When a substantial dining suite is travelling interstate, the delivery involves much more than getting it from one address to another. Protection, handling, assembly and final placement all matter—particularly when the furniture is being delivered into an established home.

In July, Phil’s Furniture Freighters collected Victorian Fiddleback Biola eight-seat dining setting from The Antique Reproduction Shop in Lilydale, Victoria, for delivery to a customer in McMahons Point, NSW.

We’ve worked with The Antique Reproduction Shop since 2021, delivering and installing their furniture for customers along our Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney corridor.

For this delivery, our service included protective blanket wrapping, disassembly where required, interstate transport, reassembly, careful room placement and removal of the packaging and job-related rubbish.

Preparing the dining suite in Lilydale

Large dining tables and matching chairs require careful preparation before loading. Timber finishes, detailed chair frames, upholstered seats, corners and edges can all be vulnerable if the furniture is handled like ordinary freight.

At the Lilydale collection, the table was disassembled as required for safer handling and transport. The table components and chairs were then individually protected with furniture blankets and carefully prepared for the journey to Sydney.

Taking the time to protect each component helps prevent rubbing, movement and unnecessary contact while the furniture is being loaded, transported and unloaded.

Specialised furniture transport from Melbourne to Sydney

This delivery travelled from Lilydale in Melbourne’s east to McMahons Point on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

For furniture retailers, designers and private customers, the final delivery is an important part of the overall experience. A quality piece of furniture deserves a delivery service that respects the workmanship, the customer’s home and the intended final position.

Our Melbourne-to-Sydney furniture deliveries are planned around both ends of the job: how the furniture will be collected and protected, and what will be required when it reaches the destination.

Assembly and careful placement in McMahons Point

The finished room in McMahons Point already contained timber flooring, rugs, artwork and other furniture, so the dining suite needed to be carried and positioned with control and attention.

Once inside, the table was carefully reassembled and placed beneath the chandelier. The eight chairs were then arranged around it to complete the setting.

Careful room placement is an important part of a premium furniture delivery. It means the customer is not left with a large table near the entrance, furniture still in pieces or packaging that must be dealt with afterwards.

After the assembly and placement were completed, we removed the packaging and job-related rubbish, leaving the dining room ready to use.

More than a basic furniture drop-off

  • Protective blanket wrapping before transport
  • Disassembly where required for safer handling
  • Careful interstate furniture transport
  • Reassembly at the delivery address
  • Placement in the customer’s chosen room
  • Removal of packaging and job-related rubbish

This complete approach is particularly valuable for substantial dining settings, detailed timber furniture, custom-made pieces and deliveries completed on behalf of furniture retailers or designers.

Supporting furniture retailers through to final delivery

For a retailer, the customer’s experience does not finish when the furniture leaves the showroom.

The delivery team becomes the final link between the retailer and their customer. Proper protection, respectful handling, accurate placement and leaving the room clean all help ensure the furniture—and the retailer—make the right final impression.
