On Tuesday 27 October 2026, Phil’s Furniture Freighters delivered a bespoke dining table and TV unit to Invermay, Victoria. We collected both pieces from Don at Pride Furniture, assembled the table, adjusted the TV-unit doors for even gaps and placed the furniture in the home.

The designs are by Olive Interior Styling. Don adapted them for reliable production and made both pieces in solid American oak. This story brings together the design, the workshop detail and our part in completing the delivery.

A dining table designed for 10–12 people

At 2600 × 1600 mm, the dining table has a broad top with room for 10–12 people. Its patterned surface, shaped border and turned base make it a substantial piece to plan around, both in the room and during delivery.

Don individually shaped and sanded the borders and inlays. The changes in grain direction across the tabletop are part of the design, framed by the repeated detail around the edge. For the base, Don worked from his full-size pattern and turned the components by hand on a lathe.

The photographs show the complete table in its dining setting as well as a closer view of the edge and support. They help explain the relationship between the patterned top and the base beneath it. The chairs and other furnishings provide room context; the dining table, TV unit and smaller pedestal table shown here were made by Don.

The companion curved TV unit

The TV unit is 2100 mm wide and 450 mm high. Its hand-shaped curved ends give the cabinet a softer outline, while push-to-open doors keep the front free of handles. The broad front view and closer end view show different parts of that work: the overall proportions, the panelled doors and the way the end curves into the front.

Both pieces received a custom stain, two-pack clear lacquer and hand-applied furniture wax. Don described blending the stain for a uniform, natural appearance as the most demanding part of the finishing work. The shared timber and finish connect the pieces without making their shapes identical.

From Don’s workshop to its final position

Our work began with collection from Don and continued through transport to Invermay. At the home, we assembled the dining table and placed both pieces where required.

We also adjusted the TV-unit doors to achieve even gaps. That is a specific part of the work completed on this job, alongside the table assembly and placement. It is useful to agree these requirements before collection so they are included in the delivery plan.

Olive Interior Styling designed the dining table and TV unit; Don at Pride Furniture adapted the designs and made the pieces; PFF collected, delivered, assembled the table, adjusted the TV-unit doors and completed placement.

A smaller table delivered to the same home

Don also made the smaller pedestal table shown in Olive Interior Styling’s photographs, and PFF delivered it to the home. The photographs show its rounded top and pedestal base in the finished room.

Planning a bespoke furniture delivery

A finished size is a useful starting point, but it is only part of the information needed to plan a delivery. For a table, tell us whether the top and base travel separately and what assembly is required. For a cabinet, provide the overall dimensions and any instructions from the maker about handling or final adjustments.

Send photographs of the furniture and the access at both ends. Doorways, stairs, tight turns, parking and the intended position in the room can affect the work involved. Let us know about these details before collection so we can assess your delivery.

If unpacking, assembly or packaging removal is required, include it in your enquiry. We can assess the scope and allow for the agreed work before collection. A delivery with table assembly and cabinet adjustments needs a different plan from a straightforward collection and placement.
